Maarten van Aalst is Associate Director and Lead Climate Specialist at the Red Cross/Red Crescent Climate Centre, Utrecht, Netherlands

Maarten van Aalst is Associate Director and Lead Climate Specialist at the Red Cross/Red Crescent Climate Centre, responsible for the Centre’s operational support to climate risk management in the Red Cross/Red Crescent; analysis and documentation of experience; and liaising with scientific and policy communities on climate change, disaster risk reduction and development planning.
In addition to his work at the Red Cross/Red Crescent Climate Centre, Maarten continues to spend some of his time as independent adviser to organizations such as the World Bank, African Development Bank, OECD, and several bilateral donor agencies, including DFID and DGIS.
He has taught climate risk management at, among others, the World Bank Institute, Joint Africa Institute, United Nations University/ITC, and Wageningen University. He holds a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science from Utrecht University.
Roger B. Street, Technical Director, UK Climate Impacts Programme

As Technical Director, Roger Street leads the Programme's technical and scientific work aimed at guiding impacts and adaptation assessments, and at developing and delivering new supportive resources and tools. This work includes that related to supporting the use of the current climate projections for the UK (UKCP09). He came to the UKCIP in January 2006 after working over 32 years on climate impacts and adaptation while with the Canadian federal government. This included working related to understanding impacts and adaptation to a changing climate, working within the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change beginning with its first assessment report and leadership of Canada's first national assessment on climate change impacts (Canada Country Study).
Arame Tall, Technical Adviser, Red Cross/Red Crescent Climate Center

After obtaining her MA in Climate and Society from Columbia University, Arame began advising the International Federation of the Red Cross/Red Crescent in West and Central Africa Zone Office on how to climate-inform its programs and shift from response to prevention using the scientific tools for Climate Risk Management (CRM). She now works as a technical adviser at the RC/RC climate center, still supporting the West and Central Africa zone. Duties include: • Provide technical advice to the Red Cross movement in West & Central Africa on climate risk management tools to support decision-making in the region • Respond to questions involving climate/weather monitoring and forecasting tools by all Red Cross/Red Crescent staff in the region • Attend Red Cross events addressing climate-sensitive disaster risks
When she is not working for the Red Cross, Arame is pursuing a doctorate degree from Johns Hopkins University-School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), writing her dissertation on cost-effective climate adaption policy in Africa. Arame is the 2009-2010 policy Fellow of the Africa Climate Change Fellowship Programme (ACCFP) .
Maksha Ram Maharjan, Natural Resource and Climate Change Advisor, CARE Nepal

Maksha Ram Maharjan is responsible to support CARE Nepal to promote climate-resilient livelihoods strategies; advocacy and social mobilization to address underlying causes of vulnerability. Currently, he is also involving in REDD Advocacy project with Federation of Community Forestry User Groups, Nepal. He worked with Government of Nepal (GoN) for more than two decades as a Project in-Charge of a Reforestation Project and as a ‘District Forest Officer’ in various remote hill districts in Nepal. While he was with GoN, he also worked with DFID funded the Nepal-UK Community Forestry Project at the capacity of ‘Community Forestry Advisor’ for over six years.
Very recently he has been selected to serve as the observer from the Asian region on the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR) Sub-Committee of the World Bank Climate Investment Fund Trust. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal.
